The Courtier and diplomacy

The Book of the Courtier, published in Venice in 1528, presents conversations about the education and conduct of the courtier and the court lady. His literary activity accompanied diplomatic missions in Rome and Spain. Appointed nuncio in 1524, he had to confront the tensions between Clement VII and Charles V and the accusations that followed the Sack of Rome in 1527.
