John III of Navarre
The son of Alain of Albret and Françoise de Châtillon, he married Catherine of Navarre. His royal position came through that marriage, while his house by birth was Albret. The conquest of 1512 displaced the centre of his monarchy and left his descendants a divided territorial and political inheritance.
