Son of Arnaud-Amanieu of Albret and Margaret of Bourbon, he was Lord of Albret and Constable of France. He died at Agincourt in 1415. His descendants connected the house with the Foix through his daughter Joan, and with the line leading to Alain and the Albret kings of Navarre.
